Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday and Lent on the Christian calendar. Making pancakes is a tradition that was developed as a means of using up rich foods such as eggs, milk, and sugar before the 40 days of fasting during Lent.
On Tuesday 21st February, students enjoyed some pikelets and learned about why this day occurs. Students that were at school on Wednesday took part in an Ash Wednesday Mass with Fr Pat in the Church.
Thanks Miss Calafiore for organising the pikelets!
